AN IDEAL TEACHER

(Introduction, Qualification, Character of an ideal teacher, His duties, Habits, Dealings, Conclusion)
An ideal teacher is rarely seen in our society these days. Teachers are the makers of the nation. They build the foundation of their students. They are the preachers of the society. As such a teacher should himself be an ideal teacher.
First of all an ideal teacher should have sense of dedication. Secondly, he should be scholarly. According to Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore, "A lamp can never burn another lamp, unless it is burning still. A teacher can never truly teach unless he is learning still. An ideal teacher should have thirst for more knowledge. He should be a voracious reader. He should be quite at home in his subjects. He should possess a sound moral character. An ideal teacher should be above suspicion as there is a saying "life speaks louder than tongue." Students are very imitative. Hence an ideal teacher should be always careful in all his dealings and habits.
He should be highly qualified. He should be punctual, truthful, dutiful, simple, kind-hearted, smiling and impressive. He should come prepared on the lesson which he has to teach. He should pay equal attention to all the students. He should not make any partiality while assessing marks.
An ideal teacher is the fountain head of inspiration for his pupils. He should be dressed properly. He should be a man of character. An ideal teacher is the costliest asset of the society. Every teacher should try his best to be an ideal teacher.
